BONUS CALCULATOR / COLORADO

Colorado
bonus tax calculator.

Combine calculated federal and FAMLI deductions with a Colorado bonus income-withholding amount confirmed by payroll.

Your cash bonus

Federal prior wages exclude both the entered regular pay and bonus. Earlier supplemental wages include common-control employers. W-4 Step 2 is off, adjustments zero. No earlier bonus in this same pay period.

Colorado settings

Colorado income withholding is not automated: enter the bonus-specific amount confirmed by payroll. FAMLI and federal deductions are calculated separately. We do not substitute the ordinary state rate for an unverified bonus method.

State treatment of this bonus

Colorado income withholding is entered manually in this release. The tool does not claim that the ordinary state income-tax rate establishes an eligible flat bonus method. Standard employee FAMLI can be calculated from covered wages and actual share.

A worked bonus example

At $5,000 bonus gross, a confirmed $220 income-withholding amount and a 0.44% FAMLI employee share below the wage cap give $242 in those two deductions. The $220 is an illustration, not an automatically selected tax rate.

When this estimate does not apply

A missing income-withholding confirmation leaves the result partial. Confirm incremental local occupational charges; do not repeat a monthly charge already collected on regular pay.

Regular resident W-2 wages, separately paid cash bonus after the entered regular wages, in the same payroll period only. A bonus paid before those regular wages is not supported. No benefit changes, state exemptions, stock awards, gross-up, or earlier supplemental payment in that period. Federal assumptions are shown in the form. Withholding is a payment toward tax, not the final tax bill.
