How North Carolina withholding is handled
North Carolina uses NC-4 settings separately from your federal W-4. This tool applies the 2026 annualized payroll method.
A state withholding example
The NC-30 example of $450 weekly with two allowances gives $4 normal state withholding. The annualized method rounds normal withholding to whole dollars.
Coverage limits
Single, married and surviving-spouse categories use the same payroll standard deduction; head of household differs. Enter the category and allowances from your NC-4. Nonresident-alien rules are not supported.
Regular resident W-2 wages only. Use confirmed local/other payroll charges where required. No tax-return, reciprocity, nonresident-alien or special-occupation calculations. Benefit entries must qualify under your employer’s plan.
