How Rhode Island withholding is handled
Rhode Island applies RI W-4 allowances to period-specific withholding tables. TDI, which includes TCI funding, is a separate employee deduction.
A state withholding example
Weekly taxable wages of $2,195 and one allowance give $87.57 income withholding. TDI on $1,800 covered wages is $19.80 when below the annual cap.
Coverage limits
TDI is 1.1% of the first $100,000 covered wages. Qualified health and traditional 401(k) are excluded from this base. Allowances disappear above the published period wage threshold.
Regular resident W-2 wages only. Use confirmed local/other payroll charges where required. No tax-return, reciprocity, nonresident-alien or special-occupation calculations. Benefit entries must qualify under your employer’s plan.
